You're Invited to Shack-A-Thon 2010
NEWS ARTICLE
Habitat Cabarrus' third annual Shack-A-Thon is scheduled to be held at Concord Middle School on April 23, 2010. This event, open to students in grades 6-12, is planned and hosted by Habitat Cabarrus Youth United students and designed to raise both funds and awareness for affordable housing needs in Cabarrus County. All proceeds from the event will go to support the construction of the 2010 Youth United Home, which is being built in Habitat Cabarrus' neighborhood, off of McGill Avenue in Concord.
The evening will be filled with fun events including a shack building contest, during which you and your friends will use cardboard and materials of your choice to construct and decorate your "sleeping quarters" for the night. Dinner, breakfast, and snacks will be provided and awesome activities will be available for you late in to the night!
In order to participate, you are asked to raise at least $25 in sponsorships from friends, family, neighbors, etc. Once you sign up (see link below), you will be provided with the materials needed to share affordable housing concerns with those that are interested in sponsoring you. You are encouraged to raise more than $25 if you are able, and our top fundraisers that evening will be eligible for great prizes, including a Wii game system!
